I’ve been speaking to the Woodland Trust this week about the trees that they’re planning to plant on my field.
I did once have high hopes of doing the planting myself, but when I learned that I would need around 1000 I decided I’d better let the professionals do it.
It’s right at the very end of the planting season, so the trees need to be planted within the next week or two or they’ll be at risk of dying.
So this is what I’m having on my plantation.
- Pedunculate oak (150)
- Alder (250)
- Wild cherry (75)
- Rowan (75)
- Downy birch (250)
- Crab apple (25)
- Bird Cherry (25)
- Scots pine (50)
- Hazel (150)
A total of 1050 trees, all of native varieties.
Hopefully the planting will be complete within the next week or so and I can post some more photos.
